*my little tales…
As some of you may know, one of my pet dreams is to write children’s picture books. Since I love teaching and working with children, and I also LOVE reading picture books in my classrooms and workshops, it is very natural for me to understand the tastes of children, the gaps in the children’s picture book market, and what devices do/don’t work within popular books. (Some of the picture books I use with my preschoolers are books that I have been reading aloud since I was a child!) My theatre background also makes it possible for me to be quite the dazzling story-teller…in short, I feel I have many strangely attuned talents that point toward the children’s picture book market.
This area will be committed to stories that are “in the hopper”, so to speak. I am currently working toward publication, but with a full-time program to run, a Masters degree to finish, and all the other general stuff that is life, there is precious little writing time. My first love and passion is teaching, but a close-if-not-equal second is writing little stories. Summers off should provide the break needed to submerge myself more fully in the publishing process…but until then, I hope you enjoy some of my drafts and musings!
